Importance of Emotional Intelligence as a Leader

Great leaders are aware of their own leadership style. For them having awareness of how their style influence their team makes these leaders already great and exceptional. Great leader understand and not only manage their own emotions, but they are able to do that with others in a very empowering way. This called as leader having Emotional intelligence. it refers to collection of abilities and used to identify, control and assess the emotions of the self and others.


There are main 10 important reasons why emotional intelligence matters and that are:


  1. Compassion - In these leaders do not manage just from the bottom line but they cares about their employees and anyone who have business with them. Everyone treated with consideration.
  2. Effective Communication - Leaders who share their vision or strategy often with those around them so everyone is on same page lead more efficient workplace. They believe in them and gets motivation.
  3. Self-awareness - Clarity on strength and weakness are important for any leader. With that leader can focus on strength and hiring people who performs well in areas where leader is weak.
  4. Authenticity - Leader must understand their own values and be consistent in applying them.
  5. Respect - Respect is not just about other it is also about respecting own self. How treat themselves reflected back in people they manage.
  6. Leading with heart - Leader should be connected not only through the business with their employees but should connected with emotions as well that lead them to be a great leader.
  7. Sense of humor - Leader should always to be like boss but they should be light up the pressure on employees by humor that create positivity among them.
  8. Confidence - Leadership is all about having confidence in our self that can inspire others and gives them confidence.
  9. Intuition - Intuitive leader can make quick decision by their guts and that inspire others.
  10. Creativity - A leader who keep promote creative thinking can only ended up with new innovation and that helps to be active.      
Not all the leader could have good EQ and those who have can get success that they want and for that reason EQ matters most to be a great leaders and those 10 qualities makes a leader Emotional intelligent. EQ makes you be one of them and still make you a leader that understand all the layers very well.

    Very well written all the points and your blog is very easy to understand. All of the point which you mentioned in the blog 10 traits of that is very demanding and on points towards it. I read some of others they have 5 main kind of but i think all of these are as important as other leader should have all of them in them so they can lead by example.
